Standard production takes about 2 to 4 weeks. Custom fabric orders may take longer. Booking installation requires scheduling after delivery. Rush fees apply for expedited orders. Confirm the delivery window before signing. Delays happen due to fabric backorders or shipping issues. Keep the deposit receipt to track order status effectively without stress.
Compare quotes based on identical specs. Check if the price includes measurement visits. Verify warranty duration in writing. Confirm whether installation labor is separate from product cost. Look for clarity on return policies. Vague quotes hide future charges. Detailed line items allow fair comparison between different local providers easily.
For driven blinds, confirm the motor battery type and expected lifespan. Ask if the system includes a manual crank for power outages. Check the brand of the central controller and app compatibility with your phone. Ensure the technician provides a warranty covering both the motor unit and the remote control device separately.
If choosing motorized blinds, test the remote range during installation. Walls and metal frames block radio frequencies. Confirm the remote works from the furthest point in the room. Ask about repeaters if the signal fails. Document this test in the final report. A weak signal means you cannot control blinds effectively from your favorite chair.
Fabric blinds fade faster in west-facing rooms due to direct sunlight. Choose blackout materials for better light control. Aluminum slats resist humidity better than wood. Vinyl is affordable but brittle in cold weather. Ask about UV protection coatings. Material choice affects both appearance and lifespan significantly for your specific location.
Sticking cords indicate worn or damaged lift mechanisms. Sliding runners need regular cleaning to move smoothly. Dust accumulation inside headrails causes noise. Tighten loose brackets immediately to prevent pulling. If the blind tilts unevenly, check the mounting screws. Regular maintenance extends product life and prevents sudden breakdowns mid-use.
Minor cord fraying can be repaired with splicing. Broken bend mechanisms usually need replacement. Torn fabric requires professional re-stitching or replacement. Check warranty terms for in-store repairs. Keep original packaging labels for identification. Small fixes cost less than full replacement. Prompt attention prevents larger functional failures later in time.
For heavy drapes, ensure the top sliding rail supports the total weight. Ask for the maximum load capacity in kilograms. Standard consumer rails often hold less than you think. Overloading causes the runners to bend and jam. Demand written confirmation that selected hardware matches the total fabric weight before installation begins.
Inspect how the end caps seal the sliding track. Loose caps allow dust and lint to enter the mechanism. This causes friction and eventual failure. Demand tight-fitting caps made of durable plastic or metal. Ask about replacement parts availability. A simple cap issue can ruin a premium curtain setup by trapping debris inside the gear system.
Ask if the pro brings a level and drilling kit. Check for bracket alignment. Uneven fittings cause operational issues later. Verify they use appropriate wall anchors for your specific wall type. Drywall requires different screws than concrete. Poor installation leads to sagging or jammed mechanisms. Inspect the finished bracket work carefully yourself.
